This is our most requested treatment and our most rewarding to perform!
Learn why we love IPL Photo Rejuvenation Treatments so much and why we guarantee our results!
Both the pleasures and stresses of life, along with the simple passage of time, tend to cause our skin to appear older. The signs of photo ageing and sun damage are typically most visible on a person’s face and body. While numerous treatments from simple creams to major surgeries exist to improve various facial flaws, skin specialists have always sought dramatic improvement with low risk and no “down time” with IPL Photo Rejuvenation Treatments. Additionally, many conventional treatment options can only address one condition at a time and entail a prolonged recovery time, considerable pain and potential side effects. Imagine reducing the effects of sun damage.
Photo rejuvenation using IPL
IPL is a non invasive treatment that treats skin damage without disruption of the skin’s surface, hence, no “down time”. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) can simultaneously treat a wide range of facial concerns such as;
- Broken capillaries of nose, cheeks, face, neck and chest (including Rosacea)
- Benign brown pigment
- Age spots (sun induced freckles)
- Mottled pigmentation
- Poikiloderma (red/brown blotching of the décolletage and neck usually caused from perfume sprayed on the area and sun contact over years)
What is IPL Photo Rejuvenation?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology is a treatment breakthrough that can correct a variety of benign skin conditions such as facial skin imperfections, the signs of photo ageing, pigmentation, freckles, unsightly small veins, and other blemishes. IPL Photo Rejuvenation Treatment is a solution that can be tailored to your individual condition and skin type, providing superior cosmetic results and outstanding satisfaction.
How it works?
A cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated. You will be given dark glasses, or if it is your full face or near your eye area, we will apply stick on Laser Eye Shields to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth glass surface of the IPL handpiece (with an inbuilt chiller to help cool the surface of your skin) is gently rested to your skin and you will be notified by your Therapist when the pulses of light are applied.
How does it feel?
You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band. The treatment, however, is relatively quick to perform and for a full face may only take approximately 20 minutes.
Possible side effects
The appearance right after treatment is similar to what you will see after a good exercise workout. The flushing and redness will last from a few minutes to several hours after treatment. If your skin is quite loose, you may experience some swelling. The brown age spots and uneven pigmentation will turn slightly darker after your treatment (we call it “miloing” as it looks like bits of milo on the skin). This will fall off over the following seven to ten days. If you are having your chest or other body areas treated, the recovery will be slightly longer than if it was your face.
How long does it last?
Results vary from client to client, depending upon how long the spots and damage have been there, the condition of the skin (whether the client is using Vitamin A and SPF30 etc. regularly) and the concern treated. In most of our client’s cases, results are long term.
Depending on the number of conditions you are treating, and the severity of the individual problem, a series of up to 4 treatment sessions may be recommended. We have found that due to our consistently thorough treatments and our experience in using the treatment to the full capacity, we can get amazing results from even one treatment. Up to approximately 60% of damage can be removed with one treatment with the majority of clients.
Even though it is a very intense treatment, a lot of clients say they do feel fine to return to work the same day and resume all their daily activities. Although, if you have large veins or large dark areas, we would recommend having the rest of the day off work. In the case of a client feeling self conscious of the brown “miloing” maybe a few days off work.
By dividing the full program into several treatments, the procedure provides gradual improvement with very low risk – and it preserves the wonderful “no down time” feature that people appreciate so much.
IPL cannot be performed on pregnant women or people using some sun sensitive drugs.
Your Therapist will do a full consultation prior to your treatment to assure you are a good candidate for IPL.
